Research, Task 4: purpose of a title sequence

The purpose of a title sequence is to set the tone and atmosphere of the film, thus, enticing the audience. titles sequences conventionally do this by introducing characters using hints and clues (such as props, settings and music) as well as including credits. Credits normally consist of production information, for instance the names of producers, distribution companies and actors names. The producers and distributors are generally represented by company idents; a visual logo or motif which is quickly recognised by audiences.

I think that the most effective title sequence was for the film Juno. This is because it integrates the credits into the illustrated theme of the sequence, clearly introduces the main character and provides the audience with small pieces of information which encourages them to ask questions.
