Blogging Health Check 3 Feedback

I am very happy with my blogging health check 3 feedback as I have managed to boost my grade from a C to a B which is what I was trying really hard to accomplish. From the targets and comments I know that the most important things I need to now focus on is ensuring that all the blog posts are in order and I need to look back at the checklist to get the right order. I also need to complete some evaluations of a couple editing sessions to give some explanation of what we did as well as post up some audience feedback from the rough cuts and the final screening.

Evaluation of Editing - 18th January

The 18th of January was our final editing lesson and we managed to complete our sequence by the end of the lesson. Again, despite not everyone in the group being present, I found that this session was perhaps one of our most productive sessions as we knew precisely what we needed to do and mainly spent the lesson tweaking and perfecting the titles and shots. However, we came across a slight problem when watching the title sequence through and discovered a jump in our scene. As it was very noticeable we found a way to cover up our mistake my simply doing a fade and blur between the two shots and it helped the jump appear seamless. We spent a lot of the session focusing on sound and decided that we need to layer in more drones and increase the pitch of some of the non-diegetic sound towards the end of the sequence to help build up suspense. Overall, I think that this editing session was extremely successful and I am very proud of how we worked as a group to finish the project.

Evaluation of Editing - 16th January

In our editing session on the 16th of January, although we weren't all there and it was quite a short lesson, I feel that we managed to make quite an improvement to the title sequence. Our main aims were to try and cutdown some shots while also adding some more titles to the credits and ensure that they are all in the right order. By the end of the session we had completed the tasks that we had set out to do and it appeared to us that we would finish our sequence by the deadline and maybe even before. We also established what we would need to do in our final editing lesson and knew that to complete the sequence we would need to just spread out the titles even more equally and perhaps re-position some of them so that the run on the same line. We also worked our from feedback that we needed to layer in more sound to build up tension.

Evidence of Editing - 4th January

This session of editing was done by Jade and Leah. We went through the video and shortened each shot by cutting, trimming and changing the speed to 110 or 120%. The overall sequence is now snappier and flows more seamlessly - this should help with the engagement of our audience.

Smart Targets from audit and SWOT - Jade Midgley

These are three targets that I have come up with as ways I could develop my blog after looking over my blogging audit and SWOT analysis;

1. Use more websites to present posts and look over older blog posts and copy/paste them into new forms of ict rather than them being simply put into the blog.

2. Create more detailed posts on filming evidence and editing evidence so that there is proof of how we went through each process when creating our title sequence.

3. Spend time during my 3 hour breaks on Thursdays editing the blog and the title sequence either at workshop or in the library.

Blogging Health Check 2 - Feedback

I'm disappointed in myself that I haven't improved my grade through my blog as I thought I had worked hard and put more effort into the blog since the first blogging health check. I know now that I need to put a lot more effort into making sure that I keep up to date with every blog post and check which ones I have I missed. I need to ensure that I post everything I need to such as feedback when needed and make sure that every post is clearly visible and easily accessible. I will look through the blogging checklist and make sure I complete all of the tasks that I may have missed or briefly posted to make sure the blog is at it's best.

Blogging Health Check 2 - Feedback

I am unhappy that I did not do as well as my last Blogging Health Check. However, this was a wake up call to me as it shows how on track I am, but exactly what I need to add in order to achieve my potential and enhance my work.
I now know that I need to try to the best of my ability to keep track of blogging, and the blogs use good ICT and are detailed, which is something I should keep up. I am glad that I have managed to continue with detail and good ICT skills, however I will now try my hardest to keep on top of things.

Xmas Task 3 - Setting Targets

After doing a blog audit and review all of my work so far I have set these three targets. I will make a note to review these specific targets each week and see what effect they are having on the overall progress of my blogs.

1) Use more creative mediums to present my work (e.g. Prezi, Emaze, Padlet)
2) Continue to complete evaluations of progress made each week.
3) Remember to develop my ideas as much as possible when posting about any work done.
